In a recent article on B2B Marketing Online, author Judith Names talks about the importance of targeting your audience in your next email campaign. It was a good reminder that we need to be segmenting our growing email lists into sublists to target our messages more effectively. She suggests making groupings around behavior statistics like

“narrowing the selection to those…who visited a particular section of your company’s Web site within the last 10 days”.

The 3 suggestions offered included:
1. Create meaningful sublists within your database.
2. Honor recipients’ preferences.
3. Make sure your hosting company can perform detailed segmentations of your list.

These are three great thoughts to keep in mind as we try to lift our email marketing results.
